| Forecasting and analysis of the macroeconomic and industry economics. Macroeconomic analysis will include topics related to the U.S. macro economy, state and metropolitan areas, or other major global economies. Estimation of forecast models and the supervision of model estimation by others. Management of one of our monthly forecast processes. Writing analysis pieces will include real-time analysis and additional commentary for our live website, near-term analysis for monthly subscription products, longer-term analysis for special projects and consulting, and editing analysis contributed by other research staff. Contract consulting work, including proposal writing, model specification, and estimation; meeting with clients to discuss proposed and current projects: making presentations at our conferences; and establishing a close working relationship with clients to understand their use of our products is also required. | |
Qualifications: | |
| Graduate degree in Economics or closely related field. At least three years experience with economic analysis in either U.S. macroeconomics, U.S. regional or international economics. In-depth research and econometric skills. Excellent writing, presentation and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of demographics is another desirable field of expertise. Education requirements are Ph.D. (ABD) in Economics, or a Master's degree and five years of experience. Excellent academic record. | |

We have an opening in our West Chester, Pennsylvania office for the following position: Dismal Scientist Website -Provide an authoritative and forceful voice to our Dismal Scientist website through timely commentary and analysis of current economic events and trends. Prepare articles, briefings and multimedia presentations on current economic topics. Comment on developments in the U.S. and globally, offering depth, perspective and background for “Dismal Scientist” readers. Write daily blog items, weekly outlook articles and topical commentary pieces that use data to add value and attract subscribers. Work with Editor-in-Chief and research staff to generate ideas, respond to news events and otherwise enhance the website. A knowledge of econometrics and modeling is essential, but so is a feel for good writing and a broad interest in current events. | |
